Overview of Scenic Area

The South Lake Tourist Area is a comprehensive historical and cultural scenic area that integrates tourism, leisure entertainment, and red education. It is rated as a National 5A-level tourist attraction. Covering an area of approximately 5.86 square kilometers, the scenic area includes South Lake Scenic Area, the South Lake Revolution Memorial Hall, and the Yuehe Historical District.

South Lake is one of the three famous lakes in Zhejiang Province, renowned for its charming scenery depicted as "Light smoke graces the islet, as a gentle breeze begins to stir," earning it the nickname "Land of Serene Waters and Prosperity".  Within the South Lake Scenic Area, there are various attractions such as Huijing Garden, Lake Center Island, Misty Rain Pavilion, Little Yingzhou Island, Haogu Pagoda, and the South Lake Revolution Memorial Hall, all of which embody distinctive Jiangnan garden characteristics and historical cultural value.

In 1921, the inaugural National Congress of the Communist Party of China concluded its final agenda on a boat on South Lake, solemnly declaring the establishment of the Communist Party of China. Since then, South Lake has become a revered revolutionary holy site for people across the nation.

The South Lake Tourist Area, relying on its red tourism resources and advantages, actively promotes the role of "learning from history to guide the future" and serves as an important site for patriotic education, revolutionary tradition education, and ideological and moral education for party members, cadres, the general public, and young people.
